Founder
L’OBJET is the life work of Elad Yifrach.
A lifelong traveler, Elad is especially fond of the Mediterranean, its peoples and ways, and its venerable traditions of fine craft.
Elad’s designs are in many ways a spirited homage to these great artisans. Yet he also aspires to extend and exceed these traditions, through painstaking effort and imagination, to create a entirely new echelon of artistry. A passion for innovation – in both technique and use of the highest quality materials - infuses everything he does. In his earliest collections, this was most evident in his use of porcelain.
Seeking the most vibrant expression of its purity and elegance, Elad became obsessed with the study of porcelain manufacturing. He then humbly, but determinedly, approached the world’s foremost workshops with a unique vision. While dubious at first, he found a few artisans willing to try. It took months of trial and error, but the resulting pieces were unquestionably bold, beautiful… and above all else, innovative. Those first pieces not only earned him the respect of the craftsmen, but launched Elad into the global design spotlight.
The hand-crafting techniques Elad has helped evolve, and the exquisite pieces they produce, are unique in the world. Rich in timeless detail and tradition, they are unmistakably modern. His designs have earned a loyal global following because they are not just beautiful, but sensual. It is a quality evidenced in the texture of a contoured relief embellished with glittering Swarovski crystals, in the surprising heft of a delicate vase of Limoges porcelain, or in the shimmering glow of hand-applied, 24kt gold.
As an accomplished Beverly Hills interior designer, Elad often dreamt of creating a décor and lifestyle collection of his own. In 2004 he did just that, flying to New York to present his prototype to Bergdorf Goodman, who immediately placed an order. And so L’OBJET was born. Today, with every new collection, Elad continues this quest to surprise , innovate, and inspire others to live a life of beauty.
Craftsmanship
L’OBJET aspires to create designs for the home that are both luxurious and functional works of art, crafted with the highest degree of excellence.
The techniques we use set L’OBJET apart from all others and are entirely our own. Every piece baring the mark of L’OBJET has been touched by the hand of a master, and is held to the highest standards of material selection, creativity, and craftsmanship.
In creating our extraordinarily textured Byzanteum Collection, for example, we designed a plaster mould so intricate that it yields a maximum of just 15 pieces (compared to a Fine Porcelain standard mould that typically generates 150).
For many collections we employ masterful hand-application techniques and complex layering with different golds, which allow us to achieve unprecedented brilliance and color.
To create L’OBJET metal pieces, our craftsmen draw on fine jewelry making techniques. In hand-soldering delicate sections together, we use sterling silver for exceptional durability. And we often employ specially designed tools, such as those needed to hand set hundreds of Swarovski crystals into an elaborate pattern.
This exacting dedication to beauty and quality has made L’OBJET one of the most innovative and fastest growing companies in the luxury goods sector.
